Spirion LLC, an American company specializing in data discovery, classification and management, announced the opening of its first ever data center in Africa, located in Cape Town, South Africa. This initiative marks a milestone in its international expansion, following similar openings in Frankfurt (Germany) in September 2024 and in Sydney (Australia) in October 2024.
With this center, Spirion aims to meet the growing data management needs in Africa and support local businesses in their transition to SaaS (software as a service) solutions. This deployment also helps ensure compliance with national regulations such as the South African Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
According to Kevin Coppins, CEO of Spirion, this infrastructure will allow companies to efficiently discover and classify all sensitive data to ensure compliant and secure management. “Protecting what matters most, sensitive data, requires flawless precision. This center offers a robust solution for all data management initiatives, regardless of sector or geographic location,” he said.
-The opening of the Cape Town center illustrates Spirion’s strategy to meet the specific requirements of local markets, while maintaining a high level of data protection globally. This initiative aims to strengthen the competitiveness of South African businesses in the face of cybersecurity challenges, while facilitating their compliance with the multiple regulations in force.
As its third international expansion in less than six months, this project highlights Spirion’s ambition to become a key player in sensitive data management on a global scale, leveraging innovative and adaptable technology solutions .
