Above the faces of the three leaders, it is written in large letters on a red background: “Don’t forget to sort the waste.”

Tehran reacted to this poster published on the city’s Facebook account. “The Director General for Western Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Majid Nili, strongly condemned the action of the mayor of a French city insulting the sacred values and personalities of our country,” said the official Irna agency. . Nili “called on the French government on Thursday to take appropriate measures to prevent the repetition of such provocative actions,” added the Irna agency.

Contacted by AFP, the mayor of Béziers, Robert Ménard, close to the extreme right and accustomed to provocations of all kinds, insisted on the fact that the choice to associate the image of the three leaders with this campaign was to “humor” to be taken “in the second degree”.
