The Canadian is entitled to three days off this week. After defeating the Vancouver Canucks in overtime last Monday at the Bell Centre, the players jumped on the ice today to stretch their legs before flying to Washington.
CH is currently on an excellent streak with an 8-2-0 record in its last 10 games.
The troop of Martin St. Louis has also won two of its last three games, against the Colorado Avalanche in a shootout and the Vancouver Canucks in overtime, in the absence of two two important pieces, namely the star forward Patrik Laine (flu symptoms) and the veteran defender David Savard (upper body injury).
This morning, Patrik Laine skated with his full equipment. Team management says he’s not 100% yet but seems to be heading in the right direction and there’s reason to be optimistic about seeing him in the lineup against the Capitals.
For his part, David Savard skated solo after the rest of the group. He wasn’t wearing his gear and was only in sweats. According to what is reported Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sportshe only skated for 7 minutes. Everything indicates that a return to play on Friday does not seem to be in the plans.
