Antoine* is a thirty-year-old from Vaud whose publications on social networks arouse fear and indignation with their unbridled anti-Semitism. Between February and October 2023, the Lausanne kitchen assistant in his thirties notably published on X: “Death to Jews and Israelis.” And even when he advocates the death penalty for pedophiles, Antoine cannot help but accompany his post with an Israeli flag.
In October 2023, after the Hamas attack which left some 1,200 Jewish victims, Antoine believes that this is not enough. “Everyone in Israel over the age of 30 deserves to die,” he sneered on October 12. “There is an event at the Lausanne synagogue. There are 30 people, three cops and private security. I want to break everything,” added the thirty-year-old. At the same time, he also declared: “The feujs are so powerful that even the Swiss suck them.”
The seriousness of the words spoken and their recurrence obviously could not escape the radar of justice. In total, seven publications considered to constitute public provocation to crime or violence, discrimination and incitement to hatred were counted by the Lausanne Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Antoine was also noted for another offense: he had a knuckleduster at home, a weapon banned in Switzerland. Thus, in addition to violating the anti-racist criminal standard, he was also found guilty of violating the federal law on weapons. The defendant was sentenced to a 180-day fine of 30 francs suspended for two years and a fine of 540 francs which will be transformed into eighteen days in prison in the event of non-payment. The procedural costs, i.e. 1,531 francs, were charged to the thirty-year-old. The prosecutor ordered the confiscation and destruction of the brass knuckles.
