: in Girona, Neversoise Mamignan Touré “wanted a new environment”

More than four years after leaving the Belgian Castors Braine for Lattes-, Mamignan Touré left and its south again, this summer, for Spain and its Spanish women’s league. In Girona, the 30-year-old Neversoise has become, in a few months, the major defensive piece of a first team in the championship and still in the race in the Euro Cup. For the moment, the Nivernaise compiles 8.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.

You have decided to leave the French championship this summer. What motivated this decision?

I wanted a new environment, but also to challenge myself in another championship after three and a half years in Montpellier.

A more defensive role

What attracted you to the Girona project?

It’s a great club that I’ve always followed, and I took the opportunity to join when the leaders showed interest in me.

What was the club’s speech to bring you here? And that of the coach??

There was no special speech from the club. The expectations are classic. It’s about doing my best, being in shape to play and holding on throughout this season, which is intense, by winning as many matches as possible.
