The manufacturing sector of the National Capital has lost a player since Les Industries Rocand, located in the Technological Park of Metropolitan Quebec, has just declared bankruptcy.
The procedure was registered with the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy of Canada on December 20. The company transfers its assets so that they can be distributed among its creditors, all in accordance with the law on bankruptcy and insolvency.
According to public documents, Rocand has a deficit of $4.5 million. The first meeting of creditors will take place on January 16, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. by videoconference on Teams. The file was entrusted to Raymond Chabot.
Founded in Quebec in 1996 by André Rochette, the company specialized in the design and manufacturing of molds and related automated equipment for the injection and extrusion-blow molding of high-tech plastic and aluminum parts.
Rocand Industries had developed particular expertise in the automotive sector. In 2015, the SME announced the start-up of a new factory located in Silao, Mexico, a 4,128 square meter facility.
In addition to Mexico and Canada, Rocand has already had offices in France, Brazil and Germany. The Technology Park company has designed and manufactured molds intended to manufacture components for giants such as GM, Nissan, BMW and Bombardier. A few years ago, it also entered into a contract with Budweiser to make a mold for pool table lamps. She had thus thwarted a competitor from China.
