Austrian Daniel Tschofenig won the 73rd edition of the Four Hills Tour on Monday by winning the last round in Bischofshofen. The World Cup leader, fifth in the competition and third overall before the final jump, was ahead of his compatriots Jan Hörl by 1.4 points and Stefan Kraft by 4.1 points. This Austrian hat-trick puts an end to a long drought for this ski jumping-mad country, since the last local victory, before an essentially Polish and Japanese domination, dates back to 2015. The winner ten years ago was called Stefan Kraft and it was thought that the golden eagle was promised to him again. And then the last jumps shook up the entire hierarchy.

Kraft, Hörl, Tschofenig. Toute la Four Hills Tournament had evolved around these three names, these three men, these teammates who overplayed the camaraderie in front of the cameras to better relieve the enormous pressure that weighed on their frail shoulders of flying men. On this Kings Day, a public holiday in Austria, a crowd estimated at more than 14,000 people came to gather at the foot of the Paul-Ausserleitner-Schanze in Bischofshofen to experience this. Stefan Kraft won on December 29 in Oberstdorf, ahead of Jan Hörl and Daniel Tschofenig. Tschofenig won on New Year’s Day in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, ahead of Gregor Deschwanden, the only non-Austrian present on a podium in the 2024-2025 Tour and ultimately fifth in the final ranking, still the best Swiss result since third place in Simon Ammann in 2014.
