The now famous house of Walter White, character from the series Breaking Badhas been put up for sale for the modest sum of US$4 million ($5.7 million Canadian), with the owners exasperated by the popularity of their property with tourists.
The house located in Albuquerque, New Mexico appeared many times in the series broadcast between 2008 and 2013, as it was the main residence of the main character, Walter White.
The 1,910 square foot house, which has four bedrooms and one bathroom, has been the scene of many adventures for the family of the famous high school chemistry teacher and producer of crystal methplayed by actor Bryan Cranston.
This means that many tourists travel daily to see it, which would cause problems for its owners.
“We see an average of 300 cars per day,” said the owner of the premises, Joanne Quintana, to local media KOB 4 Eyewitness News.
Mme Quintana grew up in this house and inherited it from her parents a few years ago.
If during filming, her family was able to appreciate the closeness they were able to have with the actors and film crews, the last few years have been tougher for them because of the increasingly growing attention from the public granted to their place of life.
An imposing fence had to be installed along the sidewalk in front of the house to prevent curious people from walking on their land.
In a famous scene from the series, a pizza is projected onto the roof of the house, which frequently incites fans of Breaking Bad to reproduce it.
“There is nothing funny or cool about throwing a pizza on the roof of this lady’s house,” the creator of Breaking BadVince Gilligan, in the official podcast of his other series, Better Call Saul.
This is why Mme Quintana made the decision to put the house up for sale for the sum of $4 million US ($5.7 million Canadian)
The municipal assessment is $343,000 US (around $500,000 Canadian), according to the magazine People.
