Friday, January 3, the Women’s Organization of the Authenticity and Modernity Party organized a meeting on the reform of the Family Code, moderated by Fatima Saâdi, co-president of the PAM and member of the political bureau, and Qouloub Feitah, president of the ‘organization.
The PAM coordinator for the Rabat region, Salma Benzzoubeir, clarified certain points of the new Family Code before giving the floor to Fatima Saâdi, co-president of the party, alongside Fatima-Zahra Mansouri, Minister of National Territorial Planning and Urban Planning, and Mehdi Bensaïd, Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication.
According to her, this meeting comes after “the instructions of the Sovereign and the decision of the PAM political office to reveal the foundations of the reform to the public. We will continue the operation in other cities and regions of the country to explain the main points of this code».
For Qouloub Feitah, “This meeting will allow us to better understand the points proposed. Of the 17 amendments presented to the Council of Ulemas, three did not receive the approval of ijtihad: inheritance between a Muslim and a non-Muslim, taâssib and DNA expertise to prove the affiliation of a child, on the grounds that the Koranic text is clear on these subjects”. Before concluding: “We must explain the principles of the reform and specify that another debate will follow in Parliament within the framework of a bill».
