French lawyer rape case: Moroccan fiancé imprisoned

The deputy king’s prosecutor at the criminal court of first instance of Casablanca ordered the incarceration of “Mohamed Amine. N”, the fiancé of the French lawyer in “the case of rape by the sons of big businessmen”. The fiancé who was being prosecuted while out on bail is now incarcerated at the local prison of Ain Sebaa (Oukacha).

Pending the continuation of the investigation concerning a complaint filed against him, signed by the president of the Casablanca Bar Association, the fiancé of the French lawyer will remain in prison.

The lawyer’s fiancé suddenly withdrew his complaint against his fiancée’s alleged attackers. The complaint concerned charges of assault, battery and false imprisonment against the four accused in this case. The reasons for withdrawing the complaint were not immediately explained.

The person concerned, who was arrested upon his arrival at Mohammed VI airport in Casablanca upon his return from two days ago, is being prosecuted according to the complaint for insults, defamation and threats against one of the lawyers representing the four accused, currently detained in the same prison.

The accusations are based on an audio recording, a telephone conversation between him and one of his friends, which was widely distributed via the instant messaging application “WhatsApp”. The recording contains false allegations, violates the secrecy of the investigation and undermines the impartiality and integrity of the public prosecutor’s office in this case, according to the prosecution.

The fiancé, according to sources consulted by Hespress, would have uttered insults and defamatory accusations towards a lawyer, daughter of a former senior official of the public prosecutor’s office and a judge president of a chamber of the court of appeal.

In the audio recording, he also allegedly criticized the investigating judge in charge of the case, accusing him of having accepted the withdrawal of the complaint and saying that he was “not a man”. The audio recording of more than 15 minutes revealed the accused’s statements before the investigating judge, where he denied having witnessed or had knowledge of the rape of his French girlfriend.

The recording also mentioned the difficulties encountered by the maid “Saïda. A,” due to contradictions in his testimony. The accused also discussed his relationship with some of the accused, as well as his French girlfriend, insisting that he had no intention of harming anyone.

As a reminder, the facts of this case date back to the beginning of last November, when a French lawyer filed a complaint against 4 men from wealthy families, accusing them of having drugged and raped her in a luxury villa in Ain Diab in Casablanca.

The investigating judge at the Casablanca Court of Appeal rejected a request from the defense of the main accused in the case (Kamil. B) to release him under judicial supervision, after the presentation of a list of witnesses present at the party in the villa denying the rape.

One of the witnesses claimed that the French complainant had had sexual intercourse of her own free will in front of her during the evening in the villa of the main accused in Ain Diab. Furthermore, the defense insisted that the alleged “victim” presented no evidence of her rape, particularly during the medical tests she carried out herself, which confirmed that she had had a relationship sexual and used drugs, including cocaine.
