The Texan group saw its deliveries decrease by 1%, although it expected them to show a “slight increase”.

Slight setback for Tesla. Deliveries of Tesla vehicles fell (-1%) in 2024 compared to the previous year, according to figures published Thursday by the manufacturer, a first in the manufacturer's history. The Texan group thus missed its target, which predicted, in October, a “slight increase” deliveries over the entire financial year. Tesla partially offset this decline with an acceleration in the fourth quarter, marked by an increase of 2.3% year-on-year. Deliveries for the last three months of 2024 are nevertheless lower than analysts' expectations. The slowdown in deliveries, which reached 1.79 million vehicles, is explained in particular by a 3.9% decline in production, which was affected by temporary site closures.

In Germany, the manufacturer's giant factory was hit by arson and then a strike, while in Texas and China, sites temporarily closed while modernization work was carried out. Despite this decline, Tesla managed to retain its title as the world's leading manufacturer of all-electric vehicles, beating, by a hair, its Chinese competitor BYD, which sold 1.76 million cars of this type last year. Wedbush Securities analysts still say “very confident” in Tesla's ability to rebound in 2025. A sentiment shared by investors, the consensus of analysts, established by FactSet, counting on 2.07 million vehicles delivered this year, which would constitute an increase of nearly 17% over a year. The stock nevertheless reacted negatively to Thursday's publication, dropping 5.96% around 3:30 p.m. GMT.
