“I did something stupid. » It was with these words that a father living in Hautmont alerted the emergency services, Wednesday January 1, after beating to death his partner, Isabelle M., 51 years old. When they arrived, around 3 a.m., firefighters discovered the inanimate body of this home helper, naked and covered in bruises. According to France 3 Nord-Pas-de-Calais, the victim's face was also swollen.
The man was taken into custody, where he allegedly mentioned an argument over adultery. According to the first elements collected by our colleagues, the couple had two adult children and was described by a neighbor as “discreet”. The latter nevertheless stressed to France 3 that he had been hearing “arguments for a month” and according to several witnesses heard by “La Voix du Nord”, emergency services had already gone to the couple's home at the end of the year.
