Operational from January 1, 2025, the portal consular services connect the 167 german visa services across the world, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release. This project, initiated in 2022, had already given priority to the treatment of visa requests for the workers qualified.
This initiative, described as an “administrative revolution”, aims to accelerate visa granting procedures in order to enable the country to strengthen its competitiveness in the attractiveness of the workforce qualified, whosegerman economyin recession for the second consecutive year in 2024, is greatly needed.
“Every year, there is a shortage of at least 400,000 qualified workers in Germany. 400,000 brains full of resources and even more skillful hands which contribute to running the economy of our country, particularly in thecraftsmanshipcare, and technology companies», declared the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Annalena Baerbockcited by the press release.
“And as an economic nation, we are also in global competition to attract apprentices as well as students,” underlined the minister.
She specified that Germany, also the country ofimmigrationneeds a modern national visa procedure, digitalsecure and adapted to current needs.
