While the verdict of the monster trial was rendered on December 19, 2024 by the Vaucluse criminal court, the first appeals are becoming known. 51 men were sentenced to sentences ranging from one year to twenty years of criminal imprisonment. According to France Info, at least fifteen defendants have already appealed.
It is not yet known whether Dominique Pelicot is part of the appeals. Convicts have until Monday, December 30 to make their choice known. Each of the accused had been found guilty, even if certain sentences had been handed down below the requirements of the public prosecutor.

The new trial must be held within six months to a maximum of one year, before a popular jury.
