Sensational defeat for the legendary Michael Schumacher in the last city council of the city where he grew up: the proposal to grant him honorary citizenship was unanimously rejected. Brother Ralf shocked by the decision of local politicians.
If there is a man who bore the name of Kerpen beyond the German borders making him known throughout the world, the latter is certainly the seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher who grew up in that town and took the first steps of his legendary career.
In the Manheim district, which will be razed to the ground, in fact both the former Ferrari driver and his brother Ralf started driving Go-Karts on the kart track managed by their father Rolf and the Kaiser initially lived together with his wife Corinna immediately after their marriage. All of this it was not enough for the current local administrators to recognize the highest honor to the most illustrious of the personalities who have such a close link with the city of North Rhine-Westphalia.
The last Kerpen municipal council actually reserved a bitter surprise for the German driver who, 11 years later, is still dealing with the tragic skiing accident in Meribel which completely turned his life and that of his family upside down. The municipal council has in fact unanimously decided not to grant honorary citizenship to the almost 56 year old (he will celebrate his birthday on January 3rd) whose health conditions have been subject to the utmost secrecy for over a decade. In fact, the petition presented by the president of the Michael Schumacher Fan Club was rejectedReiner Ferling, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the very serious accident that occurred in the French Alps on 29 December 2013.
Michael Schumacher will become a grandfather at 55, the emotional announcement of his daughter Gina
A defeat therefore towards the man who still today, like the neo-Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton, is the most successful driver in the history of Formula 1 and who has recently learned that he will soon become a grandfather (his daughter Gina Maria has in fact publicly announced that she is pregnant). A small humiliation for the German champion which was not taken well by his family as he demonstrates brother Ralf's reaction when he learned of the city council's decision not to grant honorary citizenship of Kerpen to Michael Schumacher.
“A decision like this is typical of Germany. Here success and performance no longer matter. This is a problem for our country: instead of being proud of such a personality and his extraordinary achievements, people now let things go on as they are” was in fact Ralf Schumacher's comment reported by the newspaper Kölnische Rundschau regarding what was decided in the last municipal council of the city of Kerpen regarding his brother.
However, no comment on the matter from his wife Corinna who in recent weeks is struggling with the trial for the attempted extortion he recently suffered with some criminals (including the former Schumacher home security officer and, perhaps, one of the nurses who took care of the seven-time world champion after the accident).
