Palace revolution at HC Fribourg-Gottéron! Coach Pat Emond was dismissed on Sunday, the day after a 4-0 defeat at Rapperswil.

“Since the start of the season, the team's results have not corresponded to expectations,” the club said in a press release. After 31 matches, the Friborg side, it is true, only occupy 11th place in the standings with 12 wins against 19 defeats. They were also eliminated in the round of 16 of the Champions League.

Former club player and Swiss champion at the head of CP Berne in 2016, Lars Leuenberger becomes the head coach. Before stepping aside next summer to make way for Roger Rönnberg who already has a contract.

The arrival of the Swede undoubtedly distorted the situation for Pat Emond. Successor to Christian Dubé since last spring, the Canadian was only passing through. What authority can a coach who only stays for one season really have? Apparently, it was not pronounced enough to get his players out of their comfort zone.

Lars Leuenberger will lead his new colors for the first time this Monday in Zug before competing in the Spengler Cup in Davos on December 26.
