Does Elon Musk want Donald Trump's place? Faced with questions about the growing political influence of the boss of X, the elected president assured Sunday that his ally could not become president of the United States, because “he was not born in this country”.
“He is not going to become president, that I can tell you,” Donald Trump declared at a meeting in Phoenix, Arizona.
“I’m calm, do you know why?” he asked the crowd. “He cannot be, he was not born in this country,” continued the Republican about the boss of Tesla and SpaceX, born in South Africa and naturalized American.
“I like being around intelligent people”
“I like to be accompanied by intelligent people,” said Donald Trump, assuring that Elon Musk was not “recovering the presidency”.
Donald Trump is responding to criticism, particularly from the Democratic camp, who have portrayed the richest man in the world as “President Musk” in recent days, as he occupies political space with the president-elect.
This week, the one who is responsible for an extra-governmental mission of deregulation and reduction of public spending seemed to set the tone of the political agenda.
The man with more than 200 million subscribers on his Donald Trump followed suit, pushing the United States to the brink of budgetary paralysis, the famous “shutdown”, just before Christmas. Congress reached an agreement at the last minute, during the night from Friday to Saturday.
