“The proposal for a research operation by Ocean Infinity is solid and deserves to be examined,” the minister told journalists.
On December 13, the government “accepted in principle the Ocean Infinity proposal [de poursuivre les recherches] in a new area estimated at 15,000 km2 in the southern Indian Ocean,” he said.
The Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 disappeared from radar screens on March 8, 2014 with 239 people on board, while it was supposed to connect Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
Despite the research undertaken, considered the most important in the history of aviation, the aircraft was never found.
Ocean Infinity is a company specializing in marine robotics whose teams are mainly based in Texas and England.
