Investigators from the Anti-gang section of the City of Montreal Police Department seized 27 kilograms of cocaine and firearms on Wednesday evening in the west of the island of Montreal, we learned. The Press.

Two individuals were arrested and charged following half a dozen searches carried out in particular in the borough of Lachine and in the towns of Kirkland, Dollard-des-Ormeaux and Beaconsfield.
A kilogram of cocaine currently sells for around $20,000 in the Montreal area, meaning the value of the seized cocaine is more than $500,000 before it is cut and sold on the street.
In addition to cocaine, the sleuths also got their hands on around twenty kilograms of crystal meth, an AR-15 type weapon, two pistols – the serial number of at least one weapon was disguised – a high-capacity magazine , ammunition, some of which was designed to penetrate bulletproof clothing, and more than $120,000 in cash, according to our information.
The two suspects, Mohammed Omar Faruque, 32, of Beaconsfield, and Fahad Ibne Faruque Ghazi, 41, of Montreal, were charged with possession of weapons, drug trafficking and possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, Thursday at the Montreal courthouse.
Ghazi does not appear to have a criminal history according to a short pocket search, while Faruque has a history of fraud and a still active case of drug trafficking dating back to 2020 and which was registered in the Beauharnois judicial district.
Three other individuals were also arrested Thursday evening and released pending further investigation.
According to our information, the suspects are part of a network of independent traffickers noticed in a previous investigation by the SPVM Antigang.
