A Catholic education provider from Bayeux (Calvados) filed a complaint on Wednesday December 18 against X for discrimination linked to her sexual orientation following the termination of their contract, announced her lawyer.
The complainant, self-employed, had obtained a first contract “support for internal and external communication of the restructuring of Catholic education in Bayeux” in February, followed by a second contract from May to July for several thousand euros.
But on April 19, by SMS, the president of the Catholic education management organization (OGEC), an association which manages three schools, a middle school and a high school of Catholic education in Bayeux, made an about-face. In exchanges consulted by Agence France-Presse (AFP), the latter announces that it is ” Sorry “ et “heartbroken”more “subject to pressure from families in Bayeux who, after watching your video, refuse to continue working” with the self-employed person, even if she has “personally appreciated” work with her.
“Major financial and moral harm”
On social networks, the complainant had posted videos where she shared her love life, her bisexuality and talked about polyamory. “My client really wants there to be a criminal sanction against people who, with full knowledge of the facts, decided to break a contract because the provider was bisexual”Etienne Deshoulières, the plaintiff’s lawyer, told AFP. “She wants that to change, for her trial to change things by giving a warning signal. »
For Mr. Deshoulières, “this sudden termination of contract, just a few days before the effective date of the start of his mission, created major financial and moral damage”. Contacted by AFP, the president of the OGEC could not be reached on Wednesday.
Romain Lhémery, diocesan director of Catholic education in Calvados since 1is September, for his part explained to AFP that the termination of the contract, “for which the OGEC is solely responsible”had been dictated by his decision to “come” the restructuring, on a date of which it “don’t remember”. The Mousse, Stop Homophobia and LGBT Families associations joined the complaint filed Wednesday with the Caen public prosecutor’s office.
