Three months of consultation have just ended between easyJet and its employees Toulouse. In September, 39 pilots, 82 staff cabin and four employees airline office staff learned of the closure of their base at Toulouse-Blagnac airport as of March 30, 2025.

A bitter decision taken following a “combination of factors, including a slower post-COVID recovery and inflationary pressure, which impacts easyJet’s ability to invest more in France,” explained easyJet. But communication was nevertheless lacking, according to the unions, who, by signing the majority agreement, expressed reservations “on the management of psychosocial risks which were not up to par”, indicates Sabine Moueson, Force Ouvrière (FO) union delegate.

Economic dismissal or transfer to other bases

Since Tuesday December 17, 2024, after several months of confusion, easyJet’s Toulouse employees are seeing things more clearly. Two options are offered to them: “voluntary departure” in the form of economic dismissal for refusal of mobilityor the change of base.

According to Sabine Moueson, approximately a third of employees would consider leave the company. “But that requires a period of reflection,” underlines the union representative. The pilots have until January 1 to decide. Cabin crew until January 12.

They can also request a transfer via a wish list, to other easyJet bases in France or abroad. In France, the company occupies six other sites in the airports of Nantes, Lyon, Paris Orly, Paris Charles-de-Gaulle, Nice and Bordeaux.

For those who choose this option, “a mobility bonus of 25,000 euros, coverage of moving costs and the possibility of coverage of dual residence costs is offered until June 30, 2026,” specifies Sabine Moueson .

Deleted lines, from union source

According to a union source, lines could be impacted by the closure of the base. “Having no longer our two planes based in Toulouse (one will leave for Paris-Orly, the other for Nantes, Editor’s note), there will inevitably be fewer flights »she slips Toulouse news.

The airline should work on a new flight program at the start of the year and in particular banking on the future of routes operated from or to a city that does not have an easyJet base. According to our source, “domestic flights will be maintained, particularly between Paris-Orly, Nice and Nantes”.

Flights to Lille and Marrakech at a standstill?

Lille et Marrakech are, on the other hand, in the hot seat and should no longer appear on the plan of flights departing and arriving from Toulouse-Blagnac, in 2025.

easyJet denies

However, on the easyJet side, no change is not confirmed. The company specifies that the closure of the base will not impact the flight schedule. “It’s simply that our planes no longer sleep at the airport.”

She adds: “As previously stated, Toulouse Airport will always be served by easyJet, regardless of the outcome of the ongoing consultation on the reorganization” in France. Country to which the British company says it values ​​since it is the second airline in France.
