Revocation of Bathélémy Dias, the Socialist Party speaks out. In a press release, the socialists described it as a purely vindictive act carried out completely illegally by the new government.
The press release!
« Following the dismissal of Mr. Barthélémy Dias from his position as mayor of the city of Dakar, clearly exploited by the new state authorities, then the intrusion of the police into the premises of the city hall, the Socialist Party, faithful to the principles of justice and democracy, condemns these actions unworthy of the rule of law”we can read in the press release of the Socialist Party.
The Socialist Party recalls that in other times and in other circumstances, those who, stuck in a shoddy ponce-pilatism, had this decision taken, vehemently defended the contrary, judging it arbitrary and political, if the old regime managed to take it, against the same Barthélémy Dias. And yet, nothing has changed in the meantime so that what was truth yesterday becomes heresy today.
Obviously, this forced resignation with immediate effect, occurring even though the appeal period has not yet expired, resonates, in this context, like a settling of political scores, a purely vindictive act perpetrated completely illegally, by a new power that is vengeful and solely concerned with neutralizing a political adversary.
Also, the Socialist Party expresses its support to Mr. Barthélémy Dias, still Mayor of the City of Dakar and encourages him to explore all possible avenues of appeal, to cancel this unfair and unjust measure which worries sincere democrats and convinced republicans . Finally, the Socialist Party invites the new authorities to focus on meeting the priority needs of the populations instead of shamelessly engaging in a counterproductive vendetta inevitably doomed to bitter failure. »
