“These are unfounded and fanciful accusations”declared the head of French diplomacy, Jean-Noël Barrot, while confirming the summons of the French ambassador to Algiers by the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“I confirm this summons and I regret it”he indicated. He then added: “I called our ambassador on the phone to assure him of our support”.

Jean-Noël Barrot affirmed, however, that his country wants the bilateral relationship between Algeria and to continue.

“Regarding our relationship with Algeria, we said, we even wrote, in 2022, President Tebboune, President Macron, a road map which projects the relationship between our two countries into the future and we we hope that this relationship, which is in the interest of France and Algeria, will continue”he said.

On Sunday morning, several Algerian media, including the government newspaper “El Moudjahid”, announced that the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs had summoned the French ambassador to Algiers, Stéphane Romatet to “to convey to him the firm disapproval of the highest authorities in the face of the numerous French provocations and hostile acts towards Algeria”.
