“In the event of no agreement between French-speaking and Dutch-speaking people, we can establish a Brussels government which benefits from an absolute majority in the Brussels parliament rather than a double majority. In an exceptional situation, an exceptional solution,” launched Ms. Rohonyi .

“We are faced with a kind of blackmail: a very small minority in parliament which dictates its law, its institutional agenda and deprives French- and Dutch-speaking Brussels residents of a full government,” she accused.
Another party which until now has not been associated with the negotiations: Ecolo. French-speaking environmentalists believe, on the contrary, that the Brussels institutional model must be reviewed in view of the breakdown of voting for Flemish parties in the capital, the source of the current blockage.
“The model thought up thirty years ago has become a gas factory,” notes federal minister and regional MP Zakia Khattabi, on BX1.
The ecologist believes that “we must sit around the table to think about a reform of Brussels institutions and develop the model for the benefit of all Brussels residents”.
The French-speaking Greens are ready to participate from the opposition. They do not intend to enter into a majority, given their defeat in the elections. “Our first choice is to respect the choice of voters and remain in opposition,” said Ms. Khattabi.
