In Bourbriac, near Guingamp (Côtes-d'Armor), this Wednesday morning, December 4, 2024, around twenty people, divided into two groups, searched the woods, fields and abandoned buildings around the Jules-Ferry college. They were looking for Morgane Rivoal, a 13-year-old girl, missing since Monday, November 25, in Pabu.
These searches, which yielded nothing, were organized without the support of the gendarmes. They were based on indications given by clairvoyants, one of whom resided in Guadeloupe.
The latter published a video on the Tik Tok network, claiming to have “felt the presence of Morgane in a wood, near Jules Ferry college. »
A somewhat fanciful initiative, which left several participants angry, like Christophe, a resident of Saint-Gilles-Pligeaux, who had come, in good faith, to help with the research.
“Me, if there are no gendarmes, I go home and I do not participate in the hunt,” he declared, disgusted and disappointed to discover the nature of this gathering.
“As a father, I want to help Morgane’s family. I was already present at the Pabu hunt, and I found this mobilization beautiful. But this is complete rubbish. »
Morgane's family targeted by rumors
Christophe also highlights the impact of false information disseminated on social networks. “In the place of parents, faced with all this fake news, I would not have kept my cool. We have to stop talking bullshit! »
This father deplores the disorder caused by these out-of-frame initiatives: “The police do a great job, we must not bypass them. Mobilizing journalists or police on this type of thing is a waste of time. They have better things to do elsewhere. »
Christophe concludes: “When I go to work or walk outside, I pay attention to those around me. But I do not participate in beats not supervised by the police. »
“It hurts us, all these rumors,” lamented Morgane’s mother
The gendarmerie and Morgane's family are calling for vigilance in the face of the spread of rumors online.
This unverified information disrupts research and complicates the investigation.
Aurore Rivoal, Morgane's mother, had already denounced these behaviors at the end of the official fight organized on Friday, November 29: “It hurts us, all these rumors. Social networks were precisely the subject of our argument with Morgane. Today, on these networks, some are telling us that we have found our daughter, this is false. On these same networks, we also say that we were violent with our daughter, that’s not true,” she regretted in front of the television cameras.
Stay mobilized, but within the official framework
The authorities point out that only calls for witnesses and searches supervised by the gendarmerie are reliable.
If you have information regarding Morgane Rivoal, contact the gendarmerie at 17.
Any other approach must be coordinated to avoid ineffective or harmful initiatives.
