The blacklist is growing in Geneva. The passerby, a 76-year-old woman, hit by a tram on Mondayhas died, announced the Geneva police in a press release. Yesterday evening, the circumstances of the accident, the first testimonies, the cautious formulations of the Fire and Rescue Service (SIS) indicating a life-threatening prognosis left little hope. Despite everything, we found ourselves hoping.

The accident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. near the TPG Servette stop, at the intersection with Avenue Wendt. According to a witness, a person was hit by a tram 18 traveling towards CERN at the pedestrian crossing, just in front of the McDonald’s. Immediately, screams were heard. Care was provided immediately. Without success.

“In order to determine the circumstances of this death, an investigation is being carried out by the Road and Accident Brigade (BRA) under the direction of the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP),” reports the Geneva police.

This is the thirteenth fatal accident recorded on Geneva roads this year. That’s as much as last year. Three more than in 2022. In 2021, fourteen people lost their lives in a road accident, twelve in 2020, nine in 2019 and five in 2018.
