After several years of recycling the same recipe, it seems that Samsung wants to introduce a little change with its Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, particularly in terms of screen size.
In the small world of foldable smartphones, Samsung continues to reign supreme with its Fold and Flip series. But with the competition finally getting into battle, the South Korean giant could well change its little habits. According to information revealed by analyst Ross Young and reported by SamMobilethe company’s next foldable mobiles would offer larger screens.
In a market which will soon welcome triple-foldable mobiles and which is already pushing the principle of the foldable mobile to the limits of finesse, Samsung must react. And if the manufacturer is also preparing a three-panel mobile, the firm is not abandoning the phones that have made its success in this segment either.
Growth spurt for the Fold and Flip
The Fold 7, which is not expected until at least July 2025, would therefore opt for a 6.5-inch external screen and an 8-inch foldable screen. A small growth spurt compared to the current Fold which clocks in at 6.3 and 7.6 inches on these two respective screens.
Ditto for the Flip 7 which would inherit a 4-inch screen on the outside and 6.8 inches on the outside. By changing the size of its external screen, the Flip 7 could thus change the way in which we use this type of phone, since it would become possible to run applications in proper form on the 4-inch display, without thus having to open the phone every time.
What about the battery?
Samsung wouldn’t exactly have chosen to make these changes randomly. The Korean manufacturer is already marketing a “large format” folding smartphone with its Z Fold “Special Edition”. The latter also sports exactly the same screen sizes as the potential future Fold 7. No doubt Samsung has judged the reception of this model sufficiently encouraging to try to bring a little novelty to its standard range.

Last little point of tension, we do not know if the increase in screens will be accompanied by an increase in the size of the batteries. The Fold Special Edition included a battery of the same size as the Fold 6 in order to reduce its thickness. But autonomy is already not the strong point of the Fold 6, we will have to see what Samsung decides to sacrifice next year.
