The Forvia group, the world’s seventh largest supplier of automotive technology, inaugurated a new factory in the Technopolis Industrial Acceleration Zone on Wednesday in Salé, in the presence of the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour.

This new Forvia factory, which will expand the group’s industrial activity in Morocco, will specialize in the cutting, assembly and manufacturing of textile and leather covers for automobile seats in order to diversify the offer and respond at the request of the group’s customer automobile manufacturers.

On this occasion, Mezzour noted that “the establishment of new industrial infrastructures of the group in the Kingdom testifies to the confidence of industrial leaders in the Morocco destination and attests to the tremendous potential contained in the national automobile industry and its great competitiveness” .

This project will also contribute to improving local integration of the automotive sector and strengthening its positioning on global value chains, noted Mr. Mezzour, specifying that this new factory will strengthen competitiveness and above all the quality of national production.

This infrastructure also constitutes a “major asset” for employment, with nearly 1,400 new positions expected to be created by 2027, he continued.

And to add that the group will also inaugurate another industrial infrastructure relating to the extension of its Kenitra site, which will, for its part, integrate 450 more skills.

For his part, the group’s general director, Patrick Koller, indicated that “Morocco, characterized by a continuously growing domestic market, is a country of particular importance for Forvia”.

Emphasizing the success of the group’s investments in Morocco, Mr. Koller noted that this project, alongside other factories already in place, aims not only to manufacture but also to “contribute to the community and to improving competitiveness and developing the automobile sector.

Established in Morocco since 2008, Forvia today has three factories in the Kingdom, two in Kénitra and one in Salé, and employs nearly 4,000 people. Its business includes the manufacturing of automobile fascias, the production of dashboards and door panels for car interiors, as well as the final assembly of exhaust gas aftertreatment systems.
