The mayor of Molenbeek Catherine Moureaux (PS) announced a PS-Vooruit and PTB agreement.

The PS, Vooruit and the PTB of Molenbeek have reached a coalition agreement for the mandate which is about to begin, announced the mayor of Molenbeek Catherine Moureaux (PS) on Tuesday.

“Catherine Moureaux (PS), Saliha Raïss (Vooruit) and Dirk De Block (PTB) are pleased to announce that their discussions resulted in a solid and coherent agreement to form a progressive majority in Molenbeek”, she clarified.

According to this, the agreement will soon be presented in the general meetings of the three parties concerned. Subject to the support of the various AGs, PS-Vooruit and PTB will reveal the details on Sunday morning, a few hours before the installation of the new municipal council.

In this commune to the west of the capital, the PS-Vooruit and PTB lists will together occupy 23 seats out of 45.

The PS-Vooruit list, led by outgoing mayor Catherine Moureaux, won the elections in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean on October 13, not without losing 5 of the 17 seats it occupied under the previous legislature. The PTB-PVDA list followed closely with 11 seats (+4). This precedes the MR-Open Vld (8 seats) and Team Fouad Ahidar which entered the council, with 7 seats.

The Molenbeek list Otherwise from the ex-CdH-Engagés, Ahmed El Khanouss obtains 4 seats; Ecolo-Groen, 2, and Engagés-CD&V (1).

“In recent weeks, we have been able to work in depth, in a climate of serenity and trust. We are convinced that the ambitious social project carried by our three parties meets the needs of Molenbeek residents.”commented Catherine Moureaux.
