Rabat Region Aménagements has just launched a call for tenders for scheduling, management, coordination, BIM services (Building Information Modeling) and studies of the syntheses of the construction project of the National Museum of Archaeology and Earth Sciences in Rabat.

The call for tenders was launched in one global mission composed of the following two sub-lots:

  • Sub-lot No. 1: Scheduling, control and coordination (OPC);
  • Sub-lot No. 2: BIM Management and synthesis studies.

The estimate of the cost of the services was established at 4.2 million DH.

The technical control of the studies and the works for the realization of the museum project was entrusted last May to Socotec Maroc, for an amount of 1,2 million of DH.

Located in the Hassan district, on the site of the former US embassy, the museum will be built on an area of nearly 2,7 hectares, generally square in shape (165 m by 175 m in its widest part) and delimited to the north, west and south (Marrakech Avenue) by residences, and to the east by the 401 ring road.

The National Museum of Archaeology and Earth Sciences is to be part of the Kingdom’s National Museum Foundation (FNM). It is the FNM’s fifteenth museum.

According to the tender documents, the museum’s activities cover:

– Reception and entertainment activities : these activities represent the spaces dedicated to welcoming the public, to the services and amenities intended for them. The reception function means informing, advising, directing, but also filtering and
control. In addition to the classic general reception areas and amenities (information, ticket office, cloakrooms, toilets, etc.), the museum will have a reception area for schools and groups, a bookstore-boutique, a café-tea room, a restaurant and an office for the Friends of the Museum.

– Main activities : they represent the spaces dedicated to the museum’s major activities. It is at this level that
The spaces intended for the museum’s public functions are planned: permanent exhibitions, temporary exhibitions, auditorium, documentation center, animation and initiation workshops (in particular the children’s city).

– Administrative and museographic logistics activities : these are the “intellectual” activities of management, administration, conservation management, studies, practical training and animation, and museum communication. These activities only concern the scientific, technical and administrative staff of the establishment.

– Scientific logistics activities : they represent a significant part of the overall surface area of the museum, and are divided into different workshops, reserves and collection processing areas.

– Building logistics activity : they bring together all the common activities of services and technical equipment: building workshops, various storage, preventive conservation, premises reserved for reception, surveillance, maintenance and upkeep staff, a prayer room as well as technical premises.

– Outdoor space activities: These include parking areas for public, staff and delivery vehicles, and the area reserved for coaches.
