According to 20 minutesan incident took place Monday afternoon at 4:15 p.m. in a building in Petite-Boissière, in Geneva, causing one victim: a young girl, who was quickly transported to hospital.
The Grange-Canal sector was completely sealed off by the police, mobilizing the robot from the ENDEX detachment (neutralization, removal, destruction of explosives) to verify the hypothesis of a parcel bomb. Witnesses reported a loud explosion and a broken window, while the police asked residents not to touch the mailboxes and evacuated part of the surrounding buildings.
This explosion has disturbing similarities with an incident that occurred last August in Saint-Jean, where a booby-trapped trash bag injured an employee of a watch factory. In both cases, the professional trail is closely studied, since the mailbox referred to in Petite-Boissière would belong to another employee of the same company.
The Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office has been informed of the incident and is working in close collaboration with the Geneva authorities. “Clarifications are underway and no further information will be given for the moment,” Matteo Cremaschi, spokesperson for the Public Ministry, told the French-speaking media.
