The anger of the farmers never empty. This Tuesday, November 26, a week after the blocking of the Perthus toll, on the A9 motorway, the farmers of the Pyrénées-Orientales will once again be mobilized. The FDSEA and Young Farmers 66 have planned an operation in Perpignan. Several roads in the town should be avoided.
“We will not let up the pressure”
“The fight continues. The actions continue. The rural world is suffering.” They announced it in recent days, the farmers of the Pyrénées-Orientales are back on the streets. After the blocking of the Rural Coordination, on the A9, this time it is the two majority agricultural unions who intend to demonstrate, this Tuesday, November 26.
Catalan farmers warn: “We want concrete answers from the government. We want to obtain measures that meet the needs of farmers. We will not let up the pressure because we want to make ourselves heard,” say the FDSEA and the JA 66, in a joint press release.
Representatives of the agricultural sector have planned to arrive in Perpignan with their tractors and “dumpsters full of plants”. And inevitably, this mobilization should have an impact on road traffic.
Several roads affected
The farmers plan to gather at three rallying points this Tuesday at 8 a.m.: at Perpignan (Exhibition Center), at Poll stress (Carpool area) and Thuir (stadium). The three delegations will thus form three processions, heading to the city center of Perpignan and the premises of the Chamber of Agriculture, at around 9 a.m., then to join the Pyrénées-Orientales prefecture, in the city center.
They should take the following routes and form, on their way, several snail operations:
- The RD 612A between Thuir, Toulouges and the RD 900 in Perpignan
- The RD 900 between Pollestres and Perpignan
- The RD 900 between the South toll roundabout, Saint-Charles, the Saint-Pierre clinic and the entrance to Perpignan
- The tracks on the bank (boulevard de la France libre) in Perpignan
- Avenue d’Espagne and the grand boulevards in Perpignan
- The city center of Perpignan to the quay Sadi Carnot
“Postpone your travels”
Once in front of the prefecture, the farmers should unload their skips and stop for a moment. It is still unknown whether other actions or blockades will be carried out in Perpignan.
For its part, the Pyrénées-Orientales prefecture warns motorists: “As part of a social movement in the agricultural sector, traffic difficulties are to be expected in the Perpignan sector (city center and access to the city) . Motorists are invited to limit/postpone their trips between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.advise state services.
