Sovereignty: young people will soon become “the most supportive group”, predicts PSPP

The leader of the Parti Québécois (PQ), Paul Saint-Pierre Plamondon, predicts that, within a few years, young people will be the group most in favor of independence, particularly because of the links that can be established between the project sovereignty and other projects carried by this generation, such as the fight against climate change.

In interview at Everyone is talking about iton the airwaves of ICI Télé, Paul Saint-Pierre Plamondon was called to react to a recent Léger survey, which places the PQ at the top of the voting intentions, but which also indicates that 58% of 18-34 year olds are against the Quebec sovereignty project.

The PQ leader, who promises a referendum on the issue in his first term if he is elected, first stressed that an increase in support for independence and for PQ has been noted among young people in recent years.

We are starting from afar, because the project has fallen into oblivion, in a certain way, since 1995he told host Guy A. Lepage.

My prediction is that the group that will be most in favor of independence in a few years will be young people, because it is a social project.

This is a new chapter in which we are consistent, particularly on the environmental level, because we are going to stop sending our money to Alberta oil and tax havens.

Once this Canada of colonial origin is a thing of the past, we will be able to begin negotiations as equals and find lasting ground for coexistence.

“Wokism” and Québec Solidaire

To make the sovereignist project a reality, Paul Saint-Pierre Plamondon seemed comfortable with the idea, launched by the jester of the king of the evening, MC Gilles, of having to collaborate with the deputies of Québec solidaire, despite their numerous disagreements.

[Cette critique] focuses on Québec solidaire, but more broadly on an ideological movement. We can call it woke, radical left, neoprogressism… But the behavior no longer works.

It aims to prevent dialogue and discussionjudges the PQ leader, who also denounces the imposition of certain concepts by “wokism”, which emerged simultaneously, such as systemic racism, white privilege, microaggressions, safe spaces (safe space), defunding the police to fight crime and unceded territories.
