The home of a person known to police circles was targeted by gunfire in Port-Daniel–Gascons, during the night from Sunday to Monday.
It was around midnight that police officers from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) were called to go to the municipality of some 2,000 inhabitants located in the south of Gaspésie.
Gunshots were heard in the area of Route 132, not far from Mercier Road.
“The suspect(s) allegedly fled before the police arrived. There are still no arrests at this stage,” said Frédéric Deshaies, spokesperson for the police force.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the attack. The Forensic Identification Service must go to the site on Monday to establish the causes and circumstances of the event.
“The victim is known to our police services,” specifies Mr. Deshaies.
The resident of the premises would therefore not have been targeted at random. However, it is too early to confirm that this case is linked to the drug war.
