In Morocco, while scorpions, snakes and stray dogs are claiming victims during this heatwave, vaccines are missing. Many hospitals, health centers and dispensaries in rural areas suffer from a serious shortage of antivenoms and rabies vaccines. Noureddine Kchibel, deputy of the National Rally of Independents (RNI), addresses a written question to the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khalid Aït Taleb.

The shortage of antivenom and anti-rabies serums worries Noureddine Kchibel. “The systematic exclusion of rural inhabitants in the province of Taounate in the health sector results in the incapacity of the provincial hospital, as well as most centers and dispensaries in the province, earlier this week, to provide rabies vaccine to administer first aid and emergency care to save human lives. The greatest proof of this is what happened in the province when stray dogs attacked several douars, leading to the death of a child following their bites, and injuring more than fifty other children,” laments the RNI deputy. in a written question addressed to the Minister of Health. This incident aroused great fear and concern among residents for their children and the spread of infection to families, said the elected official, also recalling that two little girls died last year due to the lack of Antivenoms for scorpion stings.

He also pleaded for the provision of antivenom for scorpion and snake bites, especially at the start of the summer season when these fatal incidents are frequent.
