We know that Ursula von der Leyen is President of the European Commission. What is less known is that the 66-year-old German politician studied medicine. Which is very useful when you find yourself on a plane with a passenger in difficulty.

The lovely story took place early Wednesday afternoon aboard a Swiss flight linking Zurich to Brussels. In mid-flight, an announcement was broadcast. “The crew was looking for someone with medical expertise,” a traveler told “20 minutesn”. Then he saw a woman rushing to help the passenger involved. He found this woman’s reaction “great” and said he was certain that it was Mrs von der Leyen.

He was right. The German’s entourage confirmed her intervention. “We were returning from Rio to Brussels when a passenger required medical attention during the flight. The president provided assistance to the passenger in distress until we landed,” explained Arianna Podesta, deputy spokesperson for the European Commission. Medical personnel took over when the plane landed in the Belgian capital.

The plane landed on time, the heroine of the day jumped into a black car and sped away.
