Juliette Goormans, who disappeared a year and a half ago in Namur, has been found safe and sound in France. David, her older brother, reacted in an interview with our colleagues at -.

Juliette Goormans, a young woman from Namur who has been missing since November 2022, was found “free, alive and in good health” on Thursday at the home of a resident of the Lyon region (south-east of France), the Namur prosecutor’s office said.

Living on rue Dewez in Namur, the teenager, then aged 17, had not appeared since November 14, 2022. She was last seen at the TEC bus shelter located on rue Gustave Guidet in Vedrin. Since then, research has been underway to find his trace.

She was finally found Thursday in the Lyon region thanks to the collaboration of the French judicial authorities and the Villeurbanne national police services.

It’s like I won the Lotto

David, his big brother, reacted in an interview with our colleagues at -. “I was at work and a colleague came to tell me that the media had just announced it,” he said. “I don’t really know what to do. It’s like I won the lottery.”

He pursues: “The day before, I told an acquaintance that she would call me in two days or even in two years. Sometimes, I thought about it and told myself that I would rather she was dead than have been abused. Now, I still don’t know what happened to her because I haven’t had any contact with the prosecutor’s office.”

David would like to see his sister again quickly. “First I want her to tell me that everything is fine and that she has not suffered from the many months she spent away from us. Afterwards, I would like to know why she was in Lyon and above all, in what conditions. “

Juliette’s family is now reassured. “No one can know what we have been through for a year and a half. I think I will finally be able to sleep. I will also take a week off to take care of my sister,” he concludes.
