Brahim Diaz made his mark during the CAN 2025 qualifiers by becoming the top scorer thanks to a resounding hat-trick during his team’s 7-0 victory against Lesotho on the final day.
The Real Madrid striker, who has shone during this campaign, surpassed Guinean Serhou Guirassy, who previously led the ranking with six goals scored at the end of the fifth day.
Double scorer in the first match against Gabon (5-1) last Friday, the striker struck again against Lesotho (7-0) with an unforgettable hat-trick.
After scoring a double in the space of 10 minutes (5′,15′), the Madrilenian didn’t want to let up and went for the hat-trick, bringing the score to 4- 0 before his comrades drove the point home even further.
With seven goals during these qualifiers, he is Morocco’s top scorer in 2024. Even more, in 8 selections with the Atlas Lions, Brahim Diaz was decisive on 9 occasions (goals and assists combined).
For his part, Guirassy, who scored a decisive goal in Guinea’s 1-0 victory against DR Congo on the fifth day, failed to score in the last meeting against Tanzania, thus leaving the field open for Diaz to overtake him and finish in the lead with a total of seven achievements.
For third place in the scorers’ ranking, several players stood out with four goals each, notably the Algerian Amine Gouiri, the Zambian Kingsley Musonda, and the Egyptian Trezeguet, testifying to the competitiveness of these qualifiers.
