The pleas of the Marrakech authorities to the Ministry of the Interior regarding the construction of hoppers have borne fruit. Abdelouafi Laftit’s department finally authorized the construction of these infrastructures aimed at streamlining traffic in the city of Marrakech in view of the CAN 2025 and the 2030 World Cup, two sporting events that Morocco is preparing to host, reveal sources to Kech24.

The creation of these hoppers is part of the 2020-2027 development plan for the Marrakech-Safi region, which will be carried out with the financial support of the region, the municipal council and the Ministry of Transport and Equipment, detail the same sources, specifying that a total of seven hoppers will be built at several roundabouts in the ocher city.

A hopper will be created at the Ayachi roundabout, another connecting the Safi road at the railway bridge, and a third at the ring road and the Essaouira road. The fourth hopper will be built in the center of the Guéliz district, at the intersection of Mohammed V Avenue and Abdelkrim El Khattabi Avenue, a fifth at the “16 Novembre” square at the intersection of Mohammed V Avenue and Hassan II Avenue, near the Moroccan Post Office. These hoppers will each cost 60 million dirhams.

The sixth hopper will be built at Al Massira Square at the intersection of Avenue Mohammed VI and Avenue Hassan II, near the station, for a total amount estimated at 100 million dirhams. The seventh and final hopper, which was not planned in the program in 2022, will be built at the roundabout of the Grand stadium of Marrakech.
