Salé – The Moroccan National Olympic Committee (CNOM) held, Thursday in Salé, its ordinary general meetings (AGO) and extraordinary general meetings (AGE) for the 2023 sports season, which were devoted to the examination and adoption of moral and financial reports as well as the approval of the statutes and internal regulations after their amendment.

During the AGM, which was attended by 26 out of 29 national sports federations, the moral and financial reports were unanimously adopted.

The moral report for the 2023 season, presented by the Secretary General of the CNOM, Abdellatif Idmahamma, focused on several areas, including governance, Olympic preparation, relations with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, the Sports Arbitration Chamber, the Moroccan Anti-Doping Agency, the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Olympic Solidarity, partnerships and international relations.

These areas also concern the Digital Olympic Academy, the promotion of Olympic values, participation in the various sports Games, training and communication, digital management for monitoring Federations and athletes, and the CNOM’s support for high-level sport.

The moral report also focused on participation in the various sports games in 2023, namely the African Beach Games in Hammamet, Tunisia, the Arab Games in Algeria, the Mediterranean Beach Games in Heraklion (Greece) and the World Beach Games in Bali (Indonesia).

Regarding the financial report, the audit of the summary statements of the CNOM including the balance sheet and the income and expense account relating to the financial year ended December 31, 2023 show an amount of equity of 69,668,412.75 DH, taking into account a deficit of 21,656,648.02 DH.

Regarding the AGE, it was an opportunity to review the amendments made to the statute and internal regulations, which mainly concern the CNOM’s commitment to working for the promotion of women and gender equality in sport by increasing the quota reserved for women in national sports bodies to 30%, with a view to achieving gender parity in sports practice and management.

The amendments also concern the missions of the CNOM, in particular with regard to compliance with the Olympic charter, the Code of Ethics, the World Anti-Doping Code and all the rules of the International Olympic Committee throughout the territory of the Kingdom, in accordance with the provisions of the Olympic Charter, as well as compliance with all decisions of the IOC.

It is also about encouraging the development of high-level sport and contributing to the creation of the infrastructures and sports equipment necessary for the practice of physical and sporting activities.

Speaking at the opening of the Ordinary General Assembly, the president of the CNOM, Faïçal Laraïchi, encouraged the sports federations to undertake basic work and to pay attention to the different age categories, while putting put in place a roadmap capable of allowing the different sporting disciplines which stand out on the continental level to also shine internationally.

He also called on the Federations to monitor the results achieved by Moroccan champions in the various continental and international competitions and to evaluate them in order to reach a better level.

Mr. Laraïchi added that sports federations are called upon to redouble their efforts to achieve the objectives set out, especially as Morocco is preparing to take part in the Paris Olympic Games this summer, reaffirming that the CNOM is prepared to provide all the necessary support for national sports bodies in the various technical and administrative areas.
