The Marrakech International Film Festival, which will be held from November 29 to December 7, 2024, is preparing to welcome Monica Bellucci. His documentary, directed by Yannis Dimolitsas, will be screened in the “11th Continent” section, a space dedicated to innovative and daring works that push the boundaries of cinematic conventions.
“It is an intimate and moving exploration of Callas’s life, combining personal letters, unpublished memoirs and rare images, retracing his journey from New York to his global influence,” specifies the festival press release.
More than a simple biographical documentary, the film weaves a link between two emblematic figures of art and the stage. Maria Callas, the diva who redefined opera, and Monica Bellucci, the actress adored for her elegance and artistic depth, come together in a dialogue that transcends eras.
“This is a timeless conversation between two women who share an absolute devotion to art,” said the press release. The documentary explores Callas’ impact, not only on his times, but also on how his legacy continues to resonate today. Monica Bellucci plays a unique role here, that of an artist paying tribute to another, in an approach marked by respect and admiration.
The presentation of the documentary is scheduled for Sunday, December 1 at 5 p.m., in the prestigious auditorium of the Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Marrakech. The screening will be followed by a conversation with Monica Bellucci and Yannis Dimolitsas, allowing the public to deepen their understanding of this unique work and go behind the scenes of its creation.
