Speaking during the monthly session of oral questions on general government policy in the House of Councilors focused on “the national industrialization policy“, Aziz Akhannouch cited several flagship initiatives including the Emergence Plan launched in 2005, the National pact for industrial emergence (2009), the Industrial acceleration plan 2014-2020as well as the Investment charter (2022).

These ambitious strategies were backed by strategic infrastructure projects, such as the port Tangier Medtoday ranked first container port in the Mediterranean and Africa, and fourth worldwide in terms of efficiency, as well as an important 1,800 km motorway network currently compared to 80 km in 1999, he recalled.

The head of government also indicated that the Kingdom has mobilized more than 13,600 hectares of industrial land and created 150 industrial zones, welcoming in this regard the positive involvement of all the actors involved in the industrialization process.

In addition, the results of social dialogue, particularly in terms of improving the social conditions of employees and the working class, will have a beneficial impact on industrial dynamics, he noted, noting that the Kingdom “continues to focus on the industrial sector through a renewed and sustainable policy, taking into account the accelerated changes in the global economy and aiming to achieve national sovereignty in terms of industrialization.

In this context, he recalled the royal message addressed to the participants in the 1st edition of the National Industry Day in March 2023, in which the Sovereign insisted on the need for Morocco to “fully prepare to inaugurate a new industrial era driven by and by the notion of sovereignty”.

In this message, the Sovereign stressed that the Kingdom “needs, to succeed in this challenge, an industry integrating new activities and new know-how and offering more employment opportunities”, recalled Aziz Akhannouch.

The head of government also highlighted the particular attention paid by the Sovereign to the industrial sector, “which constitutes an essential lever and a pillar of inclusive and sustainable social and economic development, while contributing significantly to GDP. , job creation and attracting foreign currencies.

He also welcomed the considerable progress made by Moroccan industry in recent years, which is based on the adoption of the principle of economic openness and ambitious and clear strategies, resulting from an integrated spatial vision.
