This Monday, June 24, Buckingham Palace announced the admission to hospital of the king’s younger sister, after a horse riding accident. Although she appears to be recovering well from the incident, she nevertheless suffers from memory loss linked to a concussion.

“We are both deeply touched by all the kind messages we have received from so many people near and far.” This June 25, 2024, Sir Timothy Lawrence, the husband of Princess Anne, went to the bedside of his wife, hospitalized in Bristol after a horse riding accident the day before.

And while he said his wife was conscious and recovering “well” from her accident on Sunday evening at her Gatcombe Park estate, she would nevertheless suffer from slight memory loss which would only be “temporary”, according to the Telegraph . These problems could be linked to the princess’s head injuries: according to the Buckingham Palace press release published on June 24, the Princess Royal suffers from “slight injuries and a concussion”. However, due to the concussion, the details of the accident cannot be known at this time.

Local residents reported seeing an air ambulance land around 9:15 p.m. on June 23, 2024 and then a police helicopter circling above the property a few minutes later.

Cancellations on the program

An accomplished rider, this is not the first time that Princess Anne has lost her memory after a horse riding accident. During the 1976 Olympic Games, his horse lost his balance during the show jumping event, taking King Charles III’s sister with him in his fall. She described her memory as “almost non-existent” when remembering that day.

But for now, rest is required. Her trip planned for the weekend to Canada was canceled on advice from doctors and she will also not attend the state banquet organized in honor of the visit of the Japanese imperial couple to London this Tuesday, June 25. Princess Anne is expected to return home by the end of the week.
