Laftit calls for a burst of quality – Telquel.ma

DIn a circular addressed to walis and governors, the minister pleads for a more rigorous organization and concrete actions aimed at meeting the needs of citizens while modernizing this essential service, according to Alyaoum24.

The minister highlighted several persistent problems, such as the dilapidated state of many vehicles, non-compliance with regulatory rates, or the unprofessional behavior of certain drivers. These dysfunctions have led to a growing distrust among users towards this means of transport, often pushing them to turn to alternative solutions, sometimes illegal, such as unauthorized carpooling.

To remedy this, Abdelouafi Laftit calls for a series of measures intended to improve the quality of services. This includes updating regulations relating to taxi operation, strengthening monitoring of taxi ranks at train stations, ports and airports, as well as strict enforcement of rules for the use of meters and set fares. .

The envisaged reform is not limited to punitive measures. The minister also proposes initiatives aimed at promoting the profession of taxi driver, in particular through initial and continuing training focused on communication with customers and the use of new technologies.

It also recommends the recognition of exemplary practices, through the distinction of drivers offering quality service, as motivation for all professionals.

Particular attention is paid to the integration of new technologies in the sector. The circular encourages the adoption of modern management systems such as digital platforms, mobile applications and call centers for booking taxis. These tools aim to offer a more efficient service that is better adapted to user expectations.

Furthermore, Abdelouafi Laftit insists on the renewal of the vehicle fleet. It calls for removing obsolete vehicles and replacing them with recent models that are both safe and environmentally friendly.

Despite the efforts made in recent years, particularly with the gradual introduction of certain regulations, the minister recognizes that many challenges remain. Practices such as the refusal of certain journeys, the absence of a meter or even the derogatory attitude towards customers continue to tarnish the image of the sector.

The objective of this reform is therefore twofold: to restore user confidence while supporting professionals in the profession in their transition to a better supervised and more competitive activity.
