Rabat – The importance of coordination and consultation between parliamentarians from Morocco and Malawi for the development of relations between the two countries, particularly in the economic field, was at the center of the talks, Monday in Rabat, between the president of the House of Councilors, Enaam Mayara, and the First Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Malawi, Madalitso Kwaderanji Kazombo.

On this occasion, Mr. Mayara highlighted “the excellence of political relations between the two friendly countries, marked by respect, understanding and integration at the bilateral and international levels”, underlining the importance given by the Kingdom to strengthen its relations with African countries, as part of the strategic vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, indicates a press release from the House of Advisors.

Also, the President of the Second Chamber reviewed the most significant stages of bilateral cooperation and its dynamism reinforced thanks to the activation of the Morocco-Malawi Joint Cooperation Commission, which should hold its first session at ministerial level in the near future.

In relation to the artificial dispute over the Moroccan Sahara, Mr. Mayara praised the committed position of the Republic of Malawi and its strong support for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom.

For his part, Mr. Kazombo indicated that his visit to the Kingdom “reflects a firm commitment of the Republic of Malawi to defend the issues that interest Morocco in various regional and international forums, notably the issue of the Moroccan Sahara.”

After expressing his admiration for the great progress recorded by the Kingdom in various fields, he underlined his country’s desire to benefit from Moroccan experience in the agricultural field.

While highlighting the importance of strengthening parliamentary cooperation, the Malawian official highlighted the key role of the House of Advisors, given its composition and the nature of its concerns, “in the promotion of economic relations and trade between the two friendly countries”.
