The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) confirmed that a body was found lifeless during searches carried out at the scene of the fire which affected a residence on 120th street this Friday evening. Searches continue to try to find the second person.

The identity of the victim is not known at this time. Investigations are continuing to determine the exact circumstances of the fire.

As a reminder, a major fire broke out late yesterday afternoon in a residential building located on 120th Street, in Saint-Georges. The firefighters’ intervention took place in particularly difficult conditions, with the building already completely engulfed in flames when they arrived. Witnesses had reported a loud explosion before the fire, suggesting the presence of flammable materials on site.

Sûreté du Québec investigators and fire experts continue their work on the ground to shed light on this tragic event. Note that 120th Street is blocked between Café Royal and the Venture factory.
