After Moustapha Diakhaté and Adama Guèye, it is now the turn of Cheikh Thiam to be summoned by the Special Cybersecurity Division (DSC). He showed up yesterday Monday at 3 p.m. If the exact reasons for this summons remain uncertain, it seems linked to recent declarations by Cheikh Thiam on a possible wave of assassinations and poisonings in Senegal.

“We are heading towards a series of assassinations and poisonings in this country. I say it and I take responsibility for it,” he said. These statements, widely relayed on social networks, sparked strong reactions. Cheikh Thiam had warned that these acts could target members of the political class. “Let it not surprise anyone if we see sudden deaths among politicians. I do not accuse the powers that be, but I know that they have no qualms,” he added. He also mentioned the death of former minister Mamadou Moustapha Ba, which, according to him, would have aroused his suspicions: “When I learned of his death, it made me wince. »

Cheikh Thiam did not stop there. He had mentioned the case of Bougane Guèye Dany, leader of the Gueum Sa Bopp movement, affirming that the latter had refused to eat during his detention at the Tambacounda Detention and Correction Center (MAC), for fear of being poisoned. Launching a call for vigilance, he urged political actors to take precautions. “There will be hitmen and even snipers,” he warned, in comments considered particularly worrying by some observers.
