The attitude of taxi drivers has aroused the discontent of students who denounce a violation of their right to safe travel. Activists on social media also expressed their outrage following the incident, calling on the relevant authorities to guarantee the rights of female students and make adequate means of transportation available to them. Some have called for firm measures to be taken to prevent the occurrence of such incidents caused by certain taxi drivers who sow chaos in the city of Casablanca.
The behavior of the taxi drivers is “legitimate, because the vehicle did not display any sign to confirm its membership in an association dedicated to the transport of students,” declared the secretary general of the Moroccan Democratic Labor Union, the union responsible for taxi sector, adding that “the usual route of the bus is the passenger station, and it should travel on its dedicated routes, and not through the city.”

In a statement to Al3omkhe explained that “when the taxi drivers discovered the bus carrying the students, they stopped it to check that it was not operating as clandestine transport, which caused significant harm to professionals in the sector” , emphasizing that “the association allegedly responsible for making this bus available to students should affix a symbol or a clear mark to identify the vehicle.”
The trade unionist called for “stop spreading a negative image of taxi professionals”, affirming that “taxi drivers in Casablanca suffer enormously from the chaos caused by illegal transport and encounter difficulties on a daily basis”. “Some people persist in presenting professionals as the instigators of this disorder, when in reality, they contribute to revealing this chaos, which the authorities must imperatively eradicate to guarantee the safety and well-being of citizens in their means of transport “.
