Lovers of astronomy and space exploration, you are invited to participate in an exceptional and free meeting in the auditorium of the Grande Bibliothèque between Marc Garneau, astronaut, and Christophe Galfard, doctor in theoretical physics from the University of Cambridge, who obtained his doctoral thesis under the supervision of the famous cosmologist Stephen Hawking. THEs two guests will share their unique experiences and perspectives on the Universe.
Two perspectives shared by two eminent specialists who, each in their own way, contribute to space exploration and a better understanding of our Universe.
The evening will open with a reading by Marc Garneau, which will be followed by a conversation between Marc Garneau and Christophe Galfard around the Universe and their respective experiences. Finally, the event will end with a unique conference by Christophe Galfard.

About Marc Garneau, Christophe Galfard and Chloé-Anne Touma
On October 5, 1984, Marc Garneau made history by becoming the first Canadian to fly into space. A feat that inspired an entire country and inaugurated a new era of space exploration for Canada. Christopher Galfard is a French science writer. Centralian, doctor in theoretical physics from the University of Cambridge, he obtained his doctoral thesis (on black holes) under the supervision of the famous cosmologist Stephen Hawking. Since then, he has dedicated himself to telling science to the general public in the most accessible way possible, while remaining scientifically fair, so that as many people as possible – adults and children alike – have access to today’s knowledge. His works have sold more than two million copies worldwide, and Christophe has given lectures on four continents to more than a million people.
Chloé-Anne Touma is editor-in-chief of the CScience.ca platform and the magazine LES CONNECTEURS.ca, as well as a techno columnist on ICI Première on the show Search engine. She is interested in the impacts of research, science and technological innovation on society.
