The railway company indicated in a publication on Twitter that “rail traffic is interrupted between Montreal and Quebec […] due to the derailment of a freight train.

Trains 22, 24, 29 and 37 have been canceled, VIA Rail said.

“We are communicating with impacted passengers who will receive a full refund as well as a travel credit,” the carrier added.

Trains number 15 (Halifax-Montreal), 33 (Quebec-Ottawa) and 35 (Quebec-Ottawa) were stopped and buses were ordered to allow passengers to reach their destination.

Customers who had departures scheduled for Thursday are advised to monitor the carrier’s latest updates.

Remember that a hydrogen peroxide spill occurred along Route 116, which caused its closure.

A lockdown notice has been issued to allow authorities to do their work.
